Al was honored as Volunteer of the Year for helping launch Kids Rock Cancer, Maryville’s unique music therapy program for children with cancer and other blood disorders. As a charter member and valuable leader of the advisory council, he continues to help shape Maryville’s vision for the program.

Al and his orchestra returned to The Sheldon for a Valentine’s Eve concert benefiting Kids Rock Cancer. Al was joined by Alan Ox, Kim Fuller, Arvell Keithley, Kristen Ashley plus other great guest artists!
Kids Rock Cancer, sponsored by Maryville University, is an innovative program that helps children successfully cope with the emotional challenges that accompany a cancer diagnosis. Using a portable recording studio, a certified music therapist assists the children as they write and record their own special song.

In addition to many old favorites, several brand new songs were previewed this evening for the very first time in concert.
All profits benefited the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri.

A sincere thank you to all who attended the Al Hammerman Presents, "All New Songs" benefit concert and CD release, for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro St. Louis, February 7th, 2006 at the Sheldon Concert Hall.
This concert premiered Al’s original songs to the public for the very first time, backed by a twelve-piece orchestra and some of St. Louis’s finest vocalists.
The event was great fun as well as a great success in its fund raising efforts for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri.
